Concours d'Elegance at Americana Manhasset

Porsche Roslyn was proud to take part in the 5th Annual Concours d’Elegance, Long Island’s most luxurious auto show on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Americana Manhasset. The focus was "A Salute to Racing Heritage - the Journey from Race Trace to Luxury Sportscar." The event featured a spectacular lineup of the world's top automobiles from Porsche, Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, and Rolls Royce.

Porsche Roslyn Sponsors Cannonball One Lap of America

Porsche Roslyn is proud to have participated in the 2006 Cannonball One Lap of America. Automotive journalist, Brock Yates, together with The Tire Rack and Car & Driver Magazine, held this widely publicized event with the aspirations of providing an extreme challenge for driving enthusiasts.

 

Starting at The Tire Rack in South Bend, Indiana, participants tested the endurance of their high performance vehicles on a one-week journey. The course of this year's event brought the participants through that states of Illinois, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin, concluding in a return to South Bend on May 13.

 

The Cannonball One Lap of America originated in 1984, with a simpler race structure that consisted of a number of road rallies in different locations. 1992 marked the first year of the race format used today. With changes in technology and body style in the world's finest performance cars, each year gets more exhilarating then the last.

 

Cannonball contestants are tested as they drive 24 hours a day throughout the duration of the race, stopping at certain venues for additional time trial events. Drivers are challenged to compete head to head with weather, fatigue, traffic, and fast paced competition. When necessary, motorists may spend the night in a hotel en route to their next destination.

 

Porsche Roslyn sponsored Team Theogon and their 1993 Porsche RS America. The RS America is, for the most part, a stock configuration vehicle, with minor performance and suspension modifications. Equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport tires and carrying an FVD LB2 kit and a sports clutch with a lightweight flywheel, the RS America is a force to be reckoned with.

 

Team Theogon consisted of lead driver Theodore Goneos, age 33, and co-driver Petros Goneos, age 37. Both Theodore and Petros have an impressive history of driving experience which prepared them for this year's race. Theodore has been participating in the Cannonball Run since 2004. He has participated in the 3 Day Skip Barber Racing School, as well as the 2 Day Advanced School located in Laguna Seca. Petros had his first Cannonball experienced in 2005, attended the 3 Day Skip Barber Racing School, and already has 7,200 Cannonball One Lap miles under his belt.

 

“The RS America performed impeccably on both the race track and highways,” replied Goneos. The team drove 14 to 16 hours a day for a week and a total of 6,000 miles roundtrip from New York City. The team did not encounter any mechanical issues and were extremely pleased with the reliability of the RS America and its performance on the racetracks.

 

In the past, Team Theogon took 2nd place in Vintage American in 2004, and 3rd in Vintage American in 2005. Team Theogon also competed in the SSGT1 Large Bore Class, finishing in 17th place.
